LOVE POEM #78 – GAME BOY

We used to share a secret song

in the small hours of the night

on a shining pixel planet

after her parents had passed out.

She knew how to push my buttons,

up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right,

until I was so worn away,

you couldn’t tell the A from B.

And then came the days in the drawer

buried deep beneath the papers

with my batteries discarded

in favor of one more Advanced.
