IN CLASS (AND OTHER HAIKUS)

To Class

The crisscrossed brick walk

Is coated in shade, lightly

Spattered by sunbeams.

In Class

Quiet, happy cheers

Of the children running by

Seep through the windows

From Class

Oh, look at that sky!

Bluer than clear Po’ipu.

Now I miss the sand.

Walk Home

Two boys sit in cuffs

With bloodied lips and black eyes.

Look the other way.

Getting Inside

There’s a black widow

Tying a web on the key

I need to get in.
